Before leaving New York City, it is a must to drop by Turkish Kitchen one last time for a great meal. I love their food so much that I am going to miss it immensely for sure. 

This time, I ordered another entree which blew my mind away. My appetite was bad that time. Even then, I refused to leave the city without having a nice delicious Turkish food.

After trying the Spicy Korean Rice Cakes at Chung Moo Rice Roll, I was a little addicted to the spicy rice cakes. Next to Chung Moo Rice Roll, there is another Korean restaurant - Kimganae, a new joint in Flushing, Queens. There were a lot of people in the restaurant and the space was bigger than the former.

I have always wanted to try Korean Rice Roll and I finally had the opportunity to try it. At Chung Moo Rice Roll, I ordered a Grilled Beef Rice Roll. I fell in love with it instantaneously.

Have you tried White Bear in Flushing Queens?

After reading rave reviews about White Bear (白熊), I could not resist but visited the store to try their famous dumplings and noodles. Just five minutes away from the Flushing Subway Station, you will notice a small restaurant with only four tables along Roosevelt Ave. At times, you will also notice long queues at the restaurant.

Do you crave for curry chicken? Well I do.

After being away from home for so long, I missed the good old spicy chicken curry. Thanks to Pho Hoang. Pho Hoang sells many delicious southeast asian foods that blows my mind away. Whenever I missed home foods, their near to perfection dishes warms my tender heart. I was elated thereafter.

When I was in New York previously, I remembered a friend who highly recommended the Brooklyn Diner. However, I did not get to try it. I regretted it all these time. He told me that the diner was the place to go. 

Now that I am in New York, I can finally try these highly acclaimed restaurant. My friend and I arrived at 11am and we had to wait for about 20 minutes before we could get a table. There were already many people waiting around the bar waiting for a table. Some of them were still waiting to be seated for the breakfast menu. The breakfast menu was closing when we arrived. We told the floor manager that it was alright for us to have the lunch menu. 

Although the restaurant was small, the interior remained clean and tidy. We did not enjoy the food at all. It was either the type of food that we were not used to ut or the food quality was not up to par. We were disappointed. 

The food was expensive and we spent USD120, including tips, in total. I don't think we could be coming back to the restaurant again. 

We ordered a bottle of Root Beer each. The drink was refreshing. It was a good start of a good meal, that was what we thought.  


We ordered a serving of Brooklyn Buffalo Wings and requested for the blue cheese dip and chilli sauce to be put on the side. When the chicken wings were served, we were surprised by the sheer size. The wings were very small and they were deep fried to crispy. The meat was a little dry too. The spicy sauce was indeed spicy and the cheese dip was so-so. The entire dish was no good and it was too expensive to price at USD12.75. (Food rating: 2/5)

Next, we had the Pesto Minestrone Soup priced at USD12.95. It was a big bowl of soup that could serve as an entire meal. There were a lot of ingredients such as red peppers, celery, chick peas, green peas, kidney beans, spinach, carrots, cabbage, and green peppers. Unlike the red minestrone soup we had at home, this soup was green in colour. As for the taste, it tasted like Soto Ayam. One thing for sure was that it was rather salty. We were thirsty. The mains finally arrived. I ordered a Brooklyn Diner Cheeseburger Deluxe. Priced at USD21.75, the dish served with hand-cut french fries, hickory bacon, lettuce, tomato and onion ring. The burger bun was toasted and the beef patty was moist. However, the cheeseburger tasted very ordinary and forgettable. It lacked that wow factor. (Food rating: 2/5)

Filet Mignon (8 oz.) served with hand-cut french fries or spaghetti with red gravy. Priced at USD38.00, we chose to have fries. When it was served, we were shocked to see the huge portion of french fries. It is a wonder how one could finish all these fries. Although the steak was tender and moist, it was way too salty. There were still grains of salt on the filet it was served. We were thirsty for water. (Food rating: 2/5)

At Pho Hoang Vietnamese Cuisine and BBQ (阿宏越南牛肉河粉), it served authentic Vietnamese cuisine and Cantonese roasted meat. We sought shelter from the rain when we found this restaurant. Since our first adventure at Pho Hoang, we went back almost every other day. The restaurant seemed popular as the customer turnover was high.

We started our day walking from Brooklyn Heights and ended up at Famiglia for our first meal of the day. The weather was very cold and we also needed to thaw ourselves before continuing our journey to Union Square.

Flushing, being the epicenter of Chinese Culture outside Asia, has attributed to the remarkable diversity in the area. In recent years, the number of Taiwanese cuisine had mushroomed. Food stalls selling Taiwanese cuisine were more prominent along Main Street. I could see these stalls at almost every street corner.

If you miss or love Xi'an food, why not try Biang!? The name of Biang was derived from the sound of the noodle dough slammed onto the workspace.

The Mango Slush was one of the best desserts I have eaten in Flushing. In the beverage, there was the crunchy red beans, sweet mango cubes, smoothie and some milky stuff. It was like having dessert in a cup.

At New York Food Court, why not have some desserts? There are at least two dessert shops in the food court and we decided to try Yoyo 甜品 Dessert.
