We featured Saveur at The Cathay previously. This time, we went back to the original restaurant at Purvis Street near the famous Bugis Street.

Entered through the beautiful white French Doors, we walked through the aisle towards the back of the restaurant. It is a simple, yet cosy interiors. There are two strips of tables at each side of the aisle. As we walked towards the back of the restaurant, the open concept kitchen and beverage counter are located at right side of the aisle. The main kitchen is located behind the wall at the end of the restaurant. There is a small opening on the wall, where the servers collect the food when served.

It was an experience to be seated directly opposite of the open concept where I got to see front row view of the kitchen.

Chocolate Ice Cream with Waffle

Mushroom Soup ($4.90). It was delicious but compared to The French Table, this will be my second choice.

Steak Au Poivre ($26.90) - Tenderloin Cut, Mashed Potato, Peppercorn Sauce, Diced Aparagus, Mushroom.

Mashed Potato ($4)

Epiphyte, inspired by Italian culinary concepts with an Asian twist, infuses food with art and nature. One of the unique themed restaurants along Neil Road, Epiphyte has plants and terrarium adorning the walls and tables and sunlight streaming from the airwell.

Pan-seared unagi (or eel) lined with fresh scallops, the "Unagi & Scallops" is drizzled with mentaiko (Pollock Roe) gravy. The scallops were perfectly cooked that was absolutely delicious. The Unagi was good, unfortunately I was not into eel. Overall, the dish was not bad. (Food rating: 3/5)

The Seabed Crab Cakes, priced at $13, was amazing. It reminded me of the mouth-watering crab cakes I had in Boston. The crab meat was created with Kaffir Lime and coated with Japanese bread crumbs. I had a wonderful experience. Whilst enjoying the delicious crab cakes, I reminisced the time in Boston. I felt as if I was in a time machine. (Food rating: 4/5)

Roasted Pork Belly with Lavender Pollen was one of my favourites. The crispy pork belly was roasted to a flavourful crispiness. The pork belly was then served with aromatic prickly pear-peach compote, basil mashed potato and sprinkled lavender pollen. The pork belly had a nice fragrance from the roasting that I could not stop eating until every thing was gone. (Food rating: 4/5)

Pink Rissotto is one of Epiphyte's signature dishes. Made of roasted beetroot risotto simmered in seafood broth and parmigiana, the dish was topped with a generous serving of fresh pan-seared scallops. The dish was indeed delicious as it looked. The beautiful pink coloured beetroot rissotto was absolutely awesome. Savouring the pan-seared scallops were absolutely delightful. Highly recommended. (Food rating: 4.5/5)

One of the restaurant's signature dish, Signature Striploin Steak (200g) is marinated with galbi glaze and then served with sides of kimchi mash potatoes and greens. I loved the tender striploin strips and it was unforgettable. (Food rating: 3.5/5)

Looked similar to the real Terrarium, this "Terrarium" was made of Pistachio Siphon Sponge, Croustillant Plum Konnyaku, Diplomat, Flowers, Peach Liqueur Sauce. The Pistachio sponge cake looked so real that I did not have the heart to take the first bite. The cake was a little dry with chewy texture but had a nice fragrant pistachio aftertaste. The Konnyaku was delicious and had a very nice chewy texture. I did not have the heart to spoil the beautiful "landscape". (Food rating: 4/5)

The famous and highly acclaimed Galaxy Cake with chocolate fudge/mousse inside. The rich chocolate mousse was addictive that I could stop until everything was gone.
