Top Celebrity Restaurants Trending in Singapore


On 25 Jun 2015, Celebrity Chef, Gordon Ramsay, star of TV shows Hell's Kitchen and MasterChef US and Restauranteur, opened a branch of his Bread Street Kitchen at Marina Bay Sands Singapore. This casual dining restaurant, modeled after its London counterpart, offers British European fare.

But, Chef Ramsay is not the first celebrity chef to set up a restaurant in Singapore.

Here is a list of restaurants by other celebrity chefs in Singapore (not in chronological order).


1. Long Chim by Chef David Thompson

Chef David Thompson, an internationally acclaimed chef, restauranteur and cookbook author, has opened Long Chim - his first venture into casual dining at the Marina Bay Sands. An Australian chef who is known for his culinary expertise in Thai cuisine was recently awarded the #7 pot on San Pellegrino's Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2015 and #13 on World's Best Restaurants 2014 for his restaurant - Nahm in Bangkok.

At Long Chim, Celebrity Chef Thompson transports you to the streets and markets of Bangkok, with added refinement.

My personal favourite: Pad Thai.

Enclave in the gastronomic paradise of great food, the restaurant - Hide Yamamoto was the first and only in Singapore. Opened by the renowned chef himself, Chef Yamamoto was the man behind his namesake - Hide Yamamoto. He had served three generations of US Presidents: Reagan, Bush and Clinton. He has a chain of restaurants under his belt. The fine-dining restaurant - Hide Yamamoto offers five concepts, Sushi, Teppanyaki, Robata, Ramen & Dining and Sake Bar.

My personal favourites: Seasonal vegetables with Italian Truffle Aroma; and Whole Young Chicken stuffed with Truffle Rice, Butter and Soy Flavour.

3. HY California

HY California or Hide Yamamoto California is a more casual dining option than the Hide Yamamoto at level two of Marina Bay Sands Shoppes. Located next to The Art Science Museum and on the street level, the restaurant overlooks the CBD night landscape. The beautiful lightings from Fullerton Hotel and the skyscrapers are breath-taking.

My personal favourite: Baked "Hokkaido" Mini Scallop Mousse in Truffle Pie

4. db Bistro and Oyster Bar by Daniel Boulud

Opened by the award-winning French Chef-Restauranteur, Chef Daniel Boulud offers an exciting mix of Traditional French Bistro cooking with contemporary American flavours, not forgetting his  world-renowned collection of signature burgers. 

My personal favourite: Barbequed Pork Belly

5. Salt Grill & Sky Bar by Luke Mangan

Located at the high point of Orchard Road, Salt Grill & Sky Bar by Luke Mangan, one of Australia's leading chef and restauranteur, brings out the Modern Australian cuisine.
Salt grill's interior, designed by Chanto Design, was captivating. The spacious and high ceiling restaurant provides guests with an indulgent area to not only enjoy their meals but also enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view of Singapore both day and night, which was breathtaking.

My personal favourite: Pan seared scallops, cauliflower, and dried Serrano ham

6. The Pelican Seafood Grill Bar

The Pelican serves East Coast American cuisine that focuses on fresh seafood and wood-fired grilling. The restaurant's nautical-themed interior complements East Coast American cuisine with a focus on fresh seafood and wood-fired grilling.

My personal favourite: Quick seared scallops served with pasta beads, green beans and fresh mint

7. Pollen

Enclave in the beautiful flower garden at Gardens by the Bay, Pollen serves mainly Mediterranean-inspired modern European cuisine. If you are familiar with Chef Jason Atherton, this chef and restauranteur is the chef director who leads the culinary direction for Pollen. He formerly worked for celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay at the highly-acclaimed Maze restaurant. Pollen is a sister restaurant of Pollen Street Social - the first restaurant that he established in 2011 after leaving Chef Ramsay.

My personal favourites: Lined-caught John Dory with Spanish rice; and slow-cooked egg "english breakfast"

8. Catalunya by Alain Devahive Tolosa

Located at the newly-built The Fullerton Pavilion overlooking at the beautiful Marina Barrage, a contemporary Spanish restaurant, Catalunya serves a menu that reflects the diversity of Spanish cuisine. Catalunya is situated in an unique glass-encased dome floating atop the waters of Marina Barrage. The restaurant is helmed by an international team of award-winning culinary experts from the likes of elBulli, Santi and many more.

My personal favourite: Lobster Rice served in short-grained rice with lobster cooked in fish broth

9. Pizzeria Mozza by Mario Batali

A celebrated Pizzeria, Pizzera Mozza is the brainchild of Nancy Silverton, Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich. The restaurant is widely recognised as one of the best pizzerias in the United States and is known for its California ingredients and the crust. It was the first branch outside the United States.

My personal favourite: Calamri la forno with fragioli and oregano

10. CUT by Wolfgang Puck

C.U.T. by Master Chef Wolfgang Puck opened its third location in Singapore at Marina Bay Sands - The Shoppes. It was also its first international restaurant in Asia. C.U.T. offers the finest range of beef selection frilled over hard wood and charcoal that befits its name as the true steak connoisseur. A modern interior completes the contemporary menu.

My personal favourite: U.S.D.A. Prime, Illinois Corn Fed - New York Sirloin Steak with Wild Field Mushrooms and Foie Gras

11. Tong Le

As part of the Tung Lok Group, Tong Le (同樂) is currently the most luxurious-looking Chinese restaurant in town, with food that's priced to match. Located at OUE Tower @ Collyer Quay, this private dining restaurant boasted of using the best quality ingredients and chef who have worked in some Michelin-starred restaurant and its excellent ambience that overlooks the Marina Bay view. 

My personal favourites: Star Garoupa  Fillet with Sweet and Sour Dressing; and Steamed Chicken Thigh with nice sauce

Ocean Restaurant was opened by American professional chef, Cat Cora who is best known for her featured role as an "Iron Chef". Cat Cora is a renowned celebrity Chef and the first female Iron Chef in Singapore. Located inside the S.E.A. Aquarium at Resort World Sentosa, this 63 seater allows diners to relish the magnificent view of the view of the aquarium while enjoying an unforgettable dining experience. 

My personal favourite: Seared Hokkaido Scallops - Pumpkin Bulgur Wheat, Sea Urchin Cream, Pickled Baby Fennel, Apple Slaw and Crackling Pork Skin.

13. Bacchanalia

Sandwiched between the Central Fire Station and the Singapore Philatelic Museum, Bacchanalia offers reinvented classics and distinctive, thought-provoking creations that present familiar flavours in unfamiliar ways. The brainchild of Alex Chew and Raj Datwani, the restaurant boasts of its culinary coup - three chefs all from Heston Blumenthal’s highly acclaimed (and experimental) The Fat Duck in England. The restaurant also offers a sharing menu where dishes come a little larger than the normal tapas portions, just enough for two people.

My personal favourites: Calamari Grenobloise; Steak and Sauce Rossini; and HD scallops
