With the recent lockdown or circuit breaker, we can now have a Michelin-starred meal delivered to our home.

In our earlier posts, we shared our experiences with Hawker Chan - the "World's cheapest Michelin-starred meal" and "first Hawker Michelin-starred Meal".

Today, we decided to be a little more adventurous and had another 1 Michelin-starred meal from Summer Palace delivered to our home. Summer Palace is a 1 Michelin-starred Cantonese Restaurant located at the Regent Hotel Singapore. The restaurant has been awarded Michelin one-start for the third year running.

Would these home delivered Michelin-starred delicacies taste as good as they were served at the restaurant?

Hot and Sour Seafood Soup 海鲜酸辣羹 (S$28) was amazingly delicious. The soup has two layers of flavours - sour and spicy. The spiciness from the chilli oil attacked your taste buds the minute you put into your mouth. Then the smooth sourness from the vinegar took over gradually, heightening the taste. The ingredients were extremely generous. There were wood ear fungus, bamboo shoots, carrots, golden mushroom, tofu and many more. The soup was an excellent choice as appetitiser as it whetted our appetites. (Food rating: 4.5/5)

Sauteed Scallops with Black Fungus in XO Sauce 酱云耳炒帶子 (S$40.80) blew me away. In this dish, you would find celery, carrots, black fungus, shimeiji mushrooms and scallops cooked in XO sauce. The XO sauce is a seafood spicy sauce with an umami flavour. The sauce can be pretty intense and overpowering. However, the sweetness from scallop surprised me. The portion of XO sauce used was perfect where it kept the original taste of seafood and vegetables. I loved everything in this dish although it was the most expensive dish in my order list. (Food rating: 4.5/5)

Pan-fried Lamb Loin with String Beans 煎對羊仔柳 (S$34.85) looked as simple as it was in the picture but the dish was divine. The lamb loin was not a bit gamey. The nice wok aroma or 锅气 was amazing. The meat was beautifully tenderised that it was pleasant to chew and savour the taste. The string beans were briefly fried that kept its colour and crunchiness. (Food rating: 4/5)

Wok-fried Green Asparagus with Shimeiji Mushrooms 蒜香芦笋炒小蟹菇 (S$24.65) looked the healthiest amongst the dishes. Wok fried with minced garlic, the sweetness from the green asparagus and shimeiji mushroom did wonders to the dish. It also goes to show the excellent culinary skills of the person behind the wok. (Food rating: 4/5)

Excluding the service and delivery fees, the total damages was S$128.30.
