Bao Today (包今天), Singapore (Food rating: 2.5/5)

I remembered dining at Bao Today (包今天) at least once a week when I worked in the Central Business District years ago.

I finally had the opportunity to have a good meal at Bao Today (包今天) today during my off day.

My friends and I had an early dinner at the Marina Square outlet. We spent a total of SGD50 for three people.

The Siew Mai (风尾卖) was mainly made of fresh prawns. When dipped with chilli sauce, it was delicious. However, it was nothing to scream about. It was normal. (Food rating: 2.5/5)

The Scallop Dumplings (带子饺) was equally nice. Do not expect to have scallop-filled dumplings. Instead, you will have prawn dumpling topped with a tiny piece of scallop. Though the prawns were fresh, the dish name - scallop dumpling did not meet our expectation. (Food rating: 2.5/5)

Whenever you think of Xiaolongbao (小笼包) or soup dumplings, you definitely think of din tai fung. When the xiaolongbao were served, we were utterly disappointed. The texture of skin was rough and dry and, was easily torn. The filling was normal and there was no soup in the dumpling at all. (Food rating: 2/5)

Pan Fried Carrot Cakes (白玉堂煎糕) were delicious. The cakes were pan fried to crisp and were very delicious when dipped with chilli sauce. It was one of the better dishes we had at the restaurant. (Food rating: 2.5/5)

Want to have nice luscious black hair? How about having Black Sesame Steamed Bun (黑心包)? The black sesame filling was smooth, fragrant but yet, a little too sweet. The texture of the steamed bun was delicious. (Food rating: 2.5/5)

Golden Sand Bao (包今天) or custard bun (流沙包) was delicious. The fragrant custard bun with salted egg yolk was delicious and complemented with the steamed bun very well. (Food rating: 2.5/5)

BBQ meat noodles (叉烧面干), which is similar to Wanton Noodles, were disappointing. The noodles were soggy and not chewy. The BBQ meat looked less appealing. The prawn dumplings were so-so. The sauce for the noodles were also disappointing. I remembered enjoying the noodles the most when I had them a couple of years ago. Now that the texture of the noodles have changed. The taste and experience had changed drastically. (Food rating: 2/5)
