[Home Delivery] Chuan Yang Ji (串羊记), Singapore

Unknown to many, this mutton soup restaurant, Chuan Yang Ji (串羊记) serves good grilled meat skewers too.

A regular customer of this restaurant, I always order mutton skewers and other grilled items . I tend to forget to take pictures. By the time I remembered, all the dishes were cleaned out. I finally took some photos of my personal favourite dishes and share with everyone.

The Grilled Lamb Shashlik (顶级烤羊肉串) comes with a set of 4 skewers at s$11.20. The mutton were grilled to perfection -- crispy and charred at the outside, tender and juicy in the inside. The generous use of cumin and paprika seasoning heightened the taste.  This is a must have if you were to order from Chuan Yang Ji. (Food rating: 4/5)

The Grilled Lamb Chop (烤羊排), priced at $9.10, per piece, was a good as the mutton skewers. The grilled lamb fats is the essence of lamb -- the gamey taste was somewhat addictive. The lamb fats were tender and juicy. Each bite was a delight. Between the two, you may order both. :D (Food rating: 4/5)

The Pan-fried Pork Dumpling (priced at $9) is also one of my personal favourites. The crispy crusts with juicy pork filling were fantastic. You can either eat it on its own or dip in the black vinegar with ginger slices. (Food rating: 4/5)

Most of the food prepared by Chuan Yang Ji were superb, but I hope that the noodle category could be better. The Braised Beef Soup with Knife-shaved noodles (红烧牛肉面) were very nicely packed. The thing is that the noodles were slightly overcooked. I wished that it could be more cooked in al dente style. That will be my ideal standards. Putting the noodles aside, the braised beef soup or broth was spicy and rich. There was a nice fragrance and the beef broth has rich flavour. The braised beef chunks were generous and tender. (Food rating: 3/5)

The second noodle dish, Sliced Noodles with Mutton Soup (羊肉面), priced at $9.60, was normally nice. The spicy lamb broth was rich but the noodles were a little over cooked. The noodles were a little soggy, which it could be better. (Food rating: 3/5)

My all-time personal flavour, Mixed Vegetable Salad (凉拌三丝) costs $8.00. The citrus vinaigrette whetted my appetite. The Kelp, cucumber, carro, beancurd skin were evenly cut into thin strips. The chinese parsely and sesame seeds gave different level of rich and delicious flavour to the salad. Tried umpteen times, I can never re-create such a delicious salad like this. (Food rating 4.5/5)

Sliced Pork Belly with Garlic Sauce (蒜泥白肉) is typically a cold dish as starters. The pork belly were very thinly sliced and mixed with garlic sauce and chopped spring onions. The pork belly slices were poached before mixing with the condiments. The garlic sauce was a little spicy and added the punch to the simple pork dish. Though it is a little costly at $10, this meticulously prepared starter is worth it. (Food rating: 4/5)
