Featured in Taiwanese popular variety show - 康熙來了and 小 S' favourite meal, I hunted down the restaurant to try the highly acclaimed Chicken Rice.
Very different from Singapore's Hainanese Chicken Rice, the Taiwanese version was steamed white rice with shredded chicken meat. Similar to economical rice, you could choose the sides to accompany the rice.
Highly recommended by 小S, it is most delicious if we mix the chicken rice with sunny side up. Personally, I thought that it was an excellent recommendation as it tasted great.
As for the sides, priced from TWD30 onwards, they all tasted ordinary. I wondered where the wow factor was.
The Taiwan-style Chicken Rice served with shredded chicken, drizzled with sauce. According to 小S, the egg is supposedly broken and mixed with the rice. With the mixture, the rice tasted wholesome and divine, yet ordinary. (Food rating: 3/5)
Stir fried Chicken in Brown sauce was simple and reminded me of my mother's cooking. (Food rating: 2.5/5)
Prawn Omelette was simple but the prawns were a little overcooked. (Food rating: 2.5/)
Dried Lily Flower with Pork Soup (金针赤肉汤) was an interesting one. I had never had before and it is believed to have nutritional benefits like lower blood pressure and cholesterol, invigorates blood, calm nerve and prevent blood clot.
Duck with salted vegetables soup was refreshing. The portion was just nice and went well with the other dishes. (Food rating: 2.5/5)
