Meat matters at Buddy Hoagies, Singapore

In its more peaceful hours, Buddy Hoagies, a country-themed restaurant with wooden interior at Waterway Point, reminds me of Aston's.

At both places, you can dine in a cosy, country charm coupled with a casual and relaxed ambience. One area where the two diverge is food. Buddy Hoagies offers authentic and delectable western cuisine where diners enjoy a great dining experience that will leave them craving for more. At Aston's, offers quality western cuisine at affordable prices, followed with sincere service.

Taking pride in its traditional charbroiled steaks, ribs, etc using authentic, conventional sizzling grills, Buddy Hoagies also serves salads, light meals, pasta, pizza, rosti, baked rice and not forgetting mouthwatering desserts to have a complete meal.

The ribeye steak, medium grilled, was lightly charred at some corners, giving the carcass a nice boost. Drizzled with brown sauce, the size of the steak was a huge as my palm and was at least 5cm thick. When cut, the knife cut easily through the meat and the juice from the steak oozed out. At medium, the meat was tender soft and the taste was beyond words, especially when eaten with the charred corners and fats. The fats were amazingly soft and when chewed, the aroma was overwhelmingly good. The dish was accompanied by two side dishes - Coleslaw and French Fries. The coleslaw was More surprisingly, the steak cost SGD17.90. Full marks for the ribeye steak. (Food rating: 5/5)

The Caesar Salad at first glance looked very ordinary but it blew my mind away. The romaine lettuce was freshly prepared and crunchy. A simple mix of lettuce and cherry tomatoes, dressed with parmesan cheese, lemon juice, olive oil egg, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic. Each bite of the salad was absolutely fabulous. What I love most about this dish was the lettuce leaves which were meticulously cut into bite size, putting the diners' dining experience in mind. At the same time, the cheesy, yet spicy dressing did not make me feel queasy after eating a couple of bite. Instead, I finished every one of them on the dish. I say, I will give a thumb's up for this gorgeously delicious salad. (Food rating: 5/5)

The last time I ever remembered having delicious rosti was at Marché. Both served potato strips and sausage. At Marché, the rosti was pan fried to golden brown and lightly charred corners, giving it the extra boost. At Buddy Hoagies, the potato pancake was also pan-fried till golden brown but was then drizzled with black pepper and salt and finally, topped with a sausage. The perfect butter aroma diffusing from the pancake was addicting and alluring. I could not stop eating until it is all gone. (Food rating: 5/5)
