Wild Oats @ Punggol Park, Singapore

Introduced by a friend, I had dinner at Wild Oats located at Punggol Park. The exact location was actually at the junction of Upper Serangoon Road and Hougang Ave 8. I was surprised that there were a lot of people dining merrily at the cafe, especially during a work week.

I like the tranquil and serene ambience amidst the bustling neighbourhood. As you walk into the park, the noise from the busy road and people chatting loudly in the coffeeshop disappeared. It was a great place to seek solace for tranquility and when you need to think.

As highly recommended by my friend, I ordered myself a serving of Crabmeat Linguini. Besides the simple, yet aromatic Aglio Olio, Crabmeat Linguini is my personal favourite whenever I dine out. I was delighted when the dish was served. The linguini was perfectly cooked, chewy and yet firm to the bite (in al dente style). The rich tomato sauce mixed with a generous portion of real crab meat was amazing. Though the crabmeat did not come in chunks, the shredded crab meat was generous in portion. There were left overs of the crab meat in tomato sauce even though I have finished the pasta. However, the WOW! factor diminished when I was halfway through the dish. I struggled to finish the pasta as I felt queasy due to the overwhelming tomato crabmeat sauce. (Food rating: 2.5/5)

The fried potato wedges with wasabi mayo dip was refreshing. Cut from real potatoes, they were then deep fried to crisp and sprinkled with salt. When served, the texture and look of the potato wedges evidently showed that they were freshly prepared. They tasted better than those factory made potato wedges. (Food rating: 2.5/5)
