With a strong belief of ending a meal with something sweet, I would always buy sweets such as cakes, be it my favourite brands like Glace, or new brands. This time, I bought an assortment of cakes from Rive Gauche - a brand that I have yet tried.
With great anticipation, I tried the cakes. Immediately, the cakes blew my mind away. Overall, the taste and texture were fantastic. It was truly unforgettable and I will definitely come back again for more.
RG Cheese Cake (photo above) is made of light and creamy daily baked cheese with a crunchy cookie base, topped with macaron and fresh fruits. I was blown away by the cake. The cheese cake texture was very smooth and the crunchy base tasted like tart. This cake, priced at SGD6, was a total surprise to me. The rich, yet light fragrance from the cheese was a delight. Guanaja is a French top-quality, bittersweet Chocolate mousse with two layers of chocolate sponge and a bottom layer of crispy biscuit. I loved the rich dark chocolate fudge and sponge cakes. However, it was no surprises. Though it was delicious, it was just a mere Chocolate cake. SGD7. (Food rating: 3/5)
Tiramisu is never missed out whenever I buy dessert cakes. Two layers of rich coffee liquor sponge cakes with an original Italian Tiramisu mousse. Tiramisu is a popular coffee-flavoured Italian dessert. Despite the perfect smooth texture, the dessert cake was too sweet and lacked the fragrant Mascarpone cheese, which was an essential ingredient in an authentic Tiramisu. SGD7. (Food rating: 3.5)
