Kenny Rogers. Shanghai, China (Food rating: 2.5/5)

It has been some time since I last dined at Kenny Rogers. But it was definitely my first time dining in Shanghai. Located along Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, the restaurant was located at the newly opened shopping mall, Mosaic.

We were served very quickly and were highly recommended to take up the chicken set meal for 2 with additional side dishes. We heeded the service staff's recommendation and ordered a set meal for 2 and three other ala carte dishes and spent a total amount of RMB211.

The set meal for 2 cost RMB135.00, comprising:

[1] Sambal Seafood Fried Rice was part of the set meal. The rice was very interesting as it was cooked with sambal. At first, I wondered why anyone would want to share the fried rice. The portion was quite big and best to share with others. (Food rating: 2.5/5)

[2] Sunshine Salad (阳光沙律) was freshly prepared. If only I love raw vegetables, I would have finished the entire plate of salad. (Food rating: 2.5/5)

[3] Green Tea with Passionfruit (百香果绿茶) was a very refreshing drink. I would love to make this drink myself. (Food rating: 2.5/5)

[4] Satay Chicken (沙爹肉串) was very delicious. The only dish that reminded me of the kebab, not satay. The only thing missing is the peanut condiment.

[5] KRR Roast Chicken (1/2 chicken) (黑椒味烤鸡) (see photo at the top) tasted similar to the Kenny Rogers back home.

Ala carte dishes incude:

(1) Pumpkin Soup with Prawn Bisque (鲜虾奶油南瓜汤)(RMB24)  was sweet but powdery. The pumpkin might have been blended that it become smudgy.

(2) Mac & Cheese Potato Jack - 士通粉烤马铃薯(RMB20) was not bad. The cheese tasted ok but the texture was a little powdery, as if it were made from instant.

(3) The Chocolate Waffle - 巧克力冰淇淋华夫 (RMB32) was not too bad. The waffle was hot when served but the mixture lacked the fragrance.
