Enclaved in the Central Business District, Beng Tin Hoon Kee Restaurant (茗珍奮記菜館) serves authentic delicious Hokkien dishes with decent service.
My colleagues and I had an early Chinese Lunar New Year Lunch at the restaurant. We ordered a set meal for six people. The total damages was SGD485.05.
Immersing in the festival mood, we tossed Yu Sheng and shouted all the wishes - good health, good career progression, good wealth and so on. More importantly, after all the tossing, the yu sheng was very delicious. We could even eat it as the entree. The vegetables like carrot strips were extremely fresh. You knew that they were freshly prepared. The mixture of vegetables and salmon was a good combination. (Food rating: 3.5/5)
The next dish was the fish maw with crab meat soup. The soup was extremely tasty and the viscosity was just nice. The crab meat was very fresh and meaty. The fish maw was generous in serving too. I cannot help to hoping to have a second serving. (Food rating: 4/5)
Steamed Fish Fillet was extremely delicious. The fish fillet was extremely fresh and it lacks that fishy smell. Fried quickly and then let it to steam might have caused the meat to be tender. The sauce was light and yet, and was very tangy. (Food rating: 4/5)
Next, the abalone with green vegetables were served. The greens were nicely cooked and more importantly, they were very fresh. The sauce had a nice flavour and smell. (Food rating: 3.5/5)
The lobster dish was extremely mouthwatering. The lobster shell was just a display. The lobster meat was cut into cubes and stired fried with seasoning. The meat was freshly cooked that every bite was tantalising. (Food rating: 4/5)
Stir-fried noodles was a little sticky for me. The noodles were filled with crispy pork fats and tasted very much like the 'zi char' style Hokkien noodles. By the time the dish was served, all of us were too fun to eat. (Food rating: 3/5)
