Yong He King [永和大王] @ Wulin Outlet, Hangzhou, China

Started in 1995, Yonghe King (永和大王) was a Chinese fastfood chain that specialises in noodles and rice. This fastfood chain popularised the China market very quickly.

It was dinner time. My friend and I ordered two combo meals at a total of RMB51 (SGD 10). The first one (RMB25) was the braised duck thigh (卤鸡腿排饭) combo that came with blanched cabbage (含烫高丽菜)and seaweed fishball soup (紫菜鱼丸汤).

The second one (RMB26) was was King’s braised minced meat rice (大王卤肉饭) that came with blanched cabbage and fish tofu (香干鱼豆腐). One of the meals include a red bean soy milk drink (红豆豆浆) which was refreshing and delicious.

Braised Minced Meat over rice (大王香菇卤肉饭)
was heavenly delicious. I loved the texture of the rice and the braised minced meat was sweet and fragrant. The minced meat mix reminded me of the nyonya rice dumpling. The rice portion was just nice for one person to have a full meal. (Food rating: 3/5)

The seaweed soup with fish balls (紫菜鱼丸汤) was refreshing. I kept drinking the soup. The fish balls, however, tasted more like squid balls. They were chewy and less bouncy. (Food rating: 3/5)

The fragrant fish tofu slices (香干鱼豆腐) tasted very much like fish cake in braised sauce. I like the taste and the texture of the fish tofu. More importantly, it went very well with steamed rice. (Food rating: 3/5)

The blanched cabbage (含烫高丽菜) was a little crunchy and raw. Light soy sauce was drizzled on the blanched cabbage. (Food rating: 2.5/5)
