Glass Wall Coffee, Hangzhou, China

After walking approximately 1km from the hotel to Boku bookstore (博库书城, 文二店) under the hot blazing sun, I was exhausted. I volunteered to sit at the cafe inside the book store - Glass Wall Coffee place at level 2 while my friend explored the bookstore. At the same time, I searched for directions Ion how we can get back via a bus or train. I do not want to walk back to the hotel under the blazing hot sun again.

The cafe had two sides. At one end of the cafe, there were simple chairs and tables. At the other end, there were more comfortable sofas with nice ambience. Most people chose the latter as it was very conducive for reading and relaxation. I chose the one with the sofa.

At the cafe, a friendly and attentive staff helped me to access their Wifi. She helped me to search for public transportation that we could take back to Wulin Square. She was very nice and patient with me. We found a bus that goes to Wulin Square.

I have been observing the buildings that we have been to like shopping malls and cafes. They did not turn on the air conditioner and the places were usually warm and stuffy. Most of the times, we had to cool down ourselves.

After the search exercise, I played games with my mobile phone and fell asleep on the cosy sofa. We spent a total of RMB 100 (SGD20) for dessert cakes and flavoured beverages.

The black forest cake was nice. The texture of the sponge cake was soft but it tasted rather ordinary. The cake was almost frozen. It was quite hard to cut the cake at the beginning. (Food rating: 2.5/5)

The tiramisu, when served, was rather hard because it was frozen. I could see frost on the mousse. When the cake started to ‘thaw’, the tiramisu tasted better. It was softer and the coffee and mascarpone cheese became more fragrant. It was nice but not WOW! (Food rating: 3/5)

We ordered ourselves a glass of watermelon juice, to cool ourselves. The watermelon juice was ordinary. I noticed that they do not like to add ice in the drink. (Food rating: 2.5/5)

The mango ice stand was actually mango smoothie. The mango flavour was very rich that I thought that I could get stick after drinking that. Come what may. I enjoyed drinking that and could not stop drinking. I think it was worth it. (Food rating: 3/5)
