Di Dao Dumplings [帝道小吃 ], Hangzhou, China

I have been wanting to try the dumplings at 帝道小吃, along Wulin Road. It was said to use traditional home recipe to prepare the dumplings. Since my stay in Hangzhou, I kept walking past the restaurant but I never entered the place. Today was our last night in Hangzhou and I must try the dumplings.

We ordered a couple of dishes for take away and spent RMB45 (SGD9) in total. The restaurant was small, yet there are many people dining there. It was a good indication that the food was great.

I ordered dry mushroom pork dumplings (香菇鲜肉饺) [see photo above] for takeaway. Priced at RMB16, the dumplings were delicious. It reminded us of the Jia Jia (嘉嘉) brand pork dumplings. The skin was thin and the meat servings per dumpling was generous. The dumplings secreted sweet juices. You can either eat it on its own or add vinegar into the dumplings. These dumplings were yummy using either one of them. By dipping the dumplings into light vinegar, the taste was enhanced. For each servings, there are at least 10 pieces. It is just nice to be a good meal. (Food rating: 4/5)

The pork chop and mushroom noodles (排骨菇面), priced at RMB 17, was another good choice. The noodles were chewy just the way I liked it. The pork ribs were very fresh and not gamey in taste. The soup was flavourful, making me drink it non stop. (Food rating: 3/5)

I also ordered a couple of braised food items such as the braised egg (老卤鸡蛋) RMB2, beancurd slices (老卤豆干) RMB2 and chicken thigh (老卤鸡腿) RMB6. The braised items were simply divine. Each one of them are very well braised and extremely delicious. I was in awe of how they can make such a great braised sauce. It was an extremely enjoyable dinner indeed. (Food rating: 3.5/5)
