Muah Chee is a popular Singaporean snack commonly found at the local night bazaars, coffee shops and hawker centres. Made from chewy glutinous rice flour, the muah chee is covered in a mixture of crunchy crushed peanuts and sugar.

The street snack from Hougang 6 miles famous muah chee has more than 50 years' of heritage. It is also famous for its unique black sesame muah chee which is aromatic and flavourful.

Recently, my friend and I were at the HDB Hub. We wanted to buy juices when we saw a long queue at the Hougang 6 Miles Famous Muah Chee stall. Curious, we decided to join the queue and try the so-called famous muah chee.

The muah chee sells at $2.50 (small) and $5.00 (large). Only the $5.00 (large) allows for mixed white and black muah chee. Otherwise, a customer can only choose either one of them. We ordered a packet of mixed muah chee. When we tried the muah chee, we were surprised. We could not taste the uniqueness of the chewy glutinous rice flour. It tastes very much the same as those sold at local night bazaars and hawker centres. The black muah chee tastes a little different. There was a subtle taste of fried shallots in it. However, it was still ordinary and it was a little overrated and overpriced.  In summary, the muah chee tastes normal and is not something I will crave or go crazy for.
