Round Pancakes (公馆车轮饼), Taipei

I was searching for recommendations of good foods for my next trip to Taipei. Then, I found out about this pancake stall. This stall located near the Gongguan (公馆) station at National Taiwan University (台大).

Using my GPS, I finally located the stall - (公馆车轮饼). There was a long queue and customers buy 10 pieces in one go. The pancake was manned by two men and there only two flavours - red bean and custard.

Of course, I joined the queue and tried this so-called popular famous pancakes. It took me about 10-15mins before it was my turn.

Look at the long queue.

The custard flavoured (奶油味) pancake was piping hot. The crust was crispy and inside moist and soft. The custard was curdy. The taste was just normal. I guess it was the reviews from the web. The reviews were very positive and highly recommended. My expectations were nevertheless raised. I was a little disappointed. I thought that the custard would be woozing out just like the egg custard buns. (Food Rating: 2.5/5)

After trying the custard pancake, we tried the red bean pancake next. Again, I was disappointed. The red bean tasted very normal. It was lacking something, sweetness? I wonder if it was because of my Singaporean taste buds, somehow the pancakes was rather ordinary. I expected more from the pancakes since it has long snake-like queue. Then, I wonder if it was because it was sold cheaply. Affordable to all university students... (Food Rating: 2.5/5)
