An amalgamation of flavours from the best of Northern and Southern cuisines, Imperial Treasure Nan Bei Restaurant (御宝南北小馆) serves from the bold flavours of Sichuan to sweet Cantonese desserts and savoury handmade Shanghai bites. This restaurant explores the traditional Chinese cuisine.
Enclave in the famous shopping belt along Orchard Road, the Imperial Treasure Nan Bei Restaurant is located at Ngee Ann City. Similar to the Crystal Jade concept of offering various traditional Chinese cuisines, Imperial Treasure was popular by many.
After long hours of shopping at Ngee Ann City, we went to the restaurant for dinner. At 6pm, the restaurant was already crowded and we almost did not have a table. We ordered many dishes and ate till our stomachs almost burst. Well, we enjoyed ourselves immensely.

The Fried Rice with Black Soya Sauce and Chicken, Ham, "Shanghai" Style (上海風炒飯) when served looked like the fried rice my mother used to cook. It was most probably because of the dark soy sauce that darkened the rice. The ingredients using mixed vegetables, ham and chicken made the simple dish worth salivating for. I loved the rice which was granular, not too wet. I enjoyed myself immensely and I could chew every grain of rice. (Food Rating: 3/5)
Ever since I ate Crispy Silver Fish with Garlic and Chilli from a restaurant I visited some time, I fell in love with this dish. The small silver fishes deep fried to the crisp. yummy. Unfortunately, the fishes had fishy smell. (Food Rating: 2/5)
Wheat Gluten (四喜烤符) was interesting. The gluten was very well braised in the sauce. I liked the texture of the dough. It was a good vegetarian food. (Food Rating: 2.5/5)
Sauteed Egg White with Fish Meat and Conpoy (芙蓉賽螃蟹) was one of the dishes I enjoyed most while dining at Imperial Treasure Nan Bei Restaurant. The tender fish meat and egg white gave a nice texture. I like it very much. (Food Rating: 3.5/5)
Wanton with Hot Chilli Sauce (川辣抄手) is a very spicy dish. Soaked with spicy chilli sauce, the wanton or dumplings are delicious. (Food Rating: 2.5/5)
Stewed Sliced Pork with Beancurd Leaves (百頁結烤肉) looked like Dongpo Pork. The perfectly braised pork belly was wonderfully simmered and braised. At the same time, the beancurd leaves were delicious. Coupled with rice, it tasted very delicious. (Food Rating: 3/5)
